My passion for helping others has led me to seek out a variety of work and educational experiences in the past 20 years as a teacher, coach, and counselor in a broad range of settings with a diverse group of people – that same passion has now brought me to private practice. I believe our human connection and sense of belonging to the community in and around us is a source of healing no matter what life stage, or struggle, or addiction, or personal pain you might be experiencing. As we move toward a more technological future, a therapeutic relationship can provide a kind, open, confidential, and supportive environment to sort through life’s most difficult challenges.
I earned my B.A. in Psychology from Goshen College and my M.S. in Counseling and Human Services from Indiana University South Bend. I am currently seeking additional certifications in nutrition and wellness counseling to strengthen my skills and provide avenues for clients to find effective ways to feel better, achieve confidence, and discover healthy solutions within the context of their lives.
My personal philosophy is that every problem has a solution and we look for those solutions in the many facets of our mental, physical, spiritual and emotional well-being. Identifying strengths, increasing coping skills, celebrating steps toward positive change, balancing decisions, caring for self, recognizing pain and engaging in healthy relationships are the foundations which guide my daily practice. I believe asking for help is noble and being open to the possibility of change is energizing for client and therapist.
